I bought a 1 kilo bag of Green Virgin Soap Nuts at the Oldsmar Flea Market in Tampa. It had 3 wash bags inside. The first load I did was sheets and pillow cases. I was amazed at the results. Everything was so soft and didn't really smell like anything, just clean and fresh. I couldn't be happier with all my laundry. I put 5 soap nuts in a bucket and sprayed water in it from the hose. It worked great and i didn't dry the car like normal and it didn't leave water spots. My sinuses feel better since I started using the soap nuts too. Highly recommended.

Unlike what other sellers are saying Green Virgin Soap Nuts work great in all water temperatures. For cold just wash as normal. There is no need to soak the nuts in hot water and then throw the water in the washer. Maybe Green Virgin Soap Nuts are better or maybe they never tried them in cold water and just copied off of each other. Ours work great in cold water. Just like with chemical detergents some stains will need prespotters and whites will come out whiter with bleach. But you will never need fabric softener or dryer sheets again. If you want a scent in your clothes use essential oil. Just sprinkle a few drops on a sock in the dryer. Buy Green Virgin Soap nuts. You'll save money. You'll help clean up the environment. Surf Sparkling Ocean - 180 loads Review

We bought this big box of detergent, trying to save some money. The product cleans clothes just fine, but my major problem with it was that the detergent consistently did not dissolve properly in the wash. I tried altering how much I put in vs the water level used, but nothing helped. 8 times out of 10 I would pull out my laundry to find detergent residue on my "clean" clothes and would have to run the load again through a rinse cycle losing time and money. What a waste!

Maggies Soap Nuts 100% Natural Laundry Soap (80 Loads) Review

Let's see, the only thing I can compare a soap nut to is a date. It's wrinkly, sticky, and the same size of a date - and even kind of smells like one too. The scent is not very strong, it's a really mild fruity smell.

You can use soap nuts for a variety of things: laundry soap, shampoo, body soap, pesticide, glass cleaner, the list goes on. The informative flyer it came with even said it can cure athlete's foot - so I'm soaking my feet in soap nut water every day!

The second I received my soap nuts, I started making my own liquid soap. All you need is 1 part soap nuts, 4 parts water - you can boil the soap nuts or let them soak over night. Then you just run the liquid through cheese cloth and viola, you got liquid soap!

I used my liquid soap as a shampoo. It was a little difficult to tell if I was using enough since the liquid soap is well, liquidy. So I poured some on my head and rubbed it in to my scalp and through my hair. It almost felt sticky when I was rubbing it into my hair and I was a little disappointed since I was expecting it to make my hair soft. When I got out of the shower though, my hair and skin were really silky. I don't think my hair ever felt so smooth, even with the really expensive shampoo and conditioners I use. It made my hair more bouncy too, like it had a lot of volume.

I have used the soap nuts in the cotton sack for my laundry about two times so far, but I still haven't figured that one out yet. I think I need to put a little more soap nuts in the cotton sack because my fiance's clothes are really dirty since he works construction. But either way, the soap nuts seem to be doing their job!

These soap nuts are really incredible. They don't leave a strong scent, they're natural, they don't make my skin itchy (like some soaps do), and everything they touch gets clean and silky. I am thinking about buying these boxes in bulk (which are available through Amazon too!). I'm so happy to have this alternative to soap since I don't like the idea of chemicals (even if they're supposedly harmless) on or near my skin.

Seventh Generation, Natural Citrus Scent, Powder Laundry Detergent 112 Ounces, 42 loads Review

I'm not a stereotypical tree hugger, but I've been slowing adding more organic & natural products to my household. This laundry detergent is by far my FAVORITE earth friendly product I've found.

It's fabulous - there is absolutely nothing about it that I don't like. By using it, I also learned that when I do use regular detergent, I can use a TON less than I used to.

The description says that it containes Enzymes for ultra cleaning power, then right on the bottle it says "No Enzymes" plus the last shipment I purchased of the free and clear was 32 loads a bottle and this is only 16 loads a bottle. It does not work well, I have had to boost it with Borax and even then its not great. Very disappoineted in the misleading discription. I would not recomend this Except for wools and silks as stated on the bottle but NO WHERE in the discription.

Clorox Green Works Natural Laundry Detergent, Free & Clear, 30 Loads 45 oz (1.33 l) Review

Good concept, but I find that it makes a lot of suds and they do not rinse out of the clothes easily. At the end of the cycle there is a residue of suds on the clothes and the washer.
Cutting back on the amount added to the load helps some.

When I obtained a coupon for this affordable green product, I was curious enough to switch from the brand which I had been using.

Smelling pleasant from the bottle and getting my clothes clean, it pours out very quickly. I was amazed at the formula composition. I also wondered what had been put in it!

People need to watch how they are pouring this substance or else it's going to rush out on them--and then accidentally defeat the whole point of being cost and/or ecologically conscious. We're only supposed to use the amount of product which we absolutely need to get done, not waste extra resources just for the sake of it.

With a little formula tinkering, I am certain that this product would be flying off the shelves.

Charlie's Soap Laundry Powder - 5 Gal Bucket (1280 Loads) Review

Because I have 4 kids and do a LOT of laundry, I was looking for an inexpensive but effective laundry detergent. I even briefly tried making my own, using a recipe I found on the Internet. That recipe included ground soap, and resulted in T-shirts with permanent yellow stains around the necks and underarms. Apparently, soap reacts with something in sweat.

Still searching for an alternative to the expensive stuff, I stumbled on Charlie's Soap here on Amazon, and decided to try a small bag to see if it was effective. The stuff is amazing! It removed those seemingly permanent yellow stains left by my homemade soap misadventure, and will take out all kinds of other stains. Over time, it's even managed to remove the ground-in dirt from the bottoms of my kids' socks. Charlie's actually isn't soap, chemically speaking, so it won't cause the trouble that a true soap does. I can use it on my microfiber cleaning cloths, and they don't wind up gummed up with residue.

Because I'm in Colorado, and it's insanely dry here in the winter, I do still use dryer sheets, but only with loads that include static-prone synthetic fabrics. In the summer, I don't need the dryer sheets at all.

The other big plus in my opinion is that unlike some of the high-end brands, Charlie's is scent-free. I dislike heavy perfumes that linger on the clothes permanently. Charlie's just leaves everything smelling fresh and clean.

Another plus to Charlie's is convenience. My laundry area is small, so I keep the gigundous bucket in the basement, and refill the 80-load bag that I bought originally. The little bag takes up almost no space in the laundry area.

The stuff has turned me into a Charlie's evangelist -- I just bought a bag to give to my brother!

I look for products that I am not allergic too, that don't cost a lot and this one fits both categories. You REALLY don't need to use more then an ounce of the product (I have a HE washer). And it does the job. It has gotten out some stains in my children's clothing that other main stream free and clear detergents have left in. Even though it is scented, it does not leave a scent in the clothing. The built in fabric softener seemed to work at first when the weather was a bit more humid, but when winter hit, so did static cling in the dryer and I did have to add a fabric softener to my wash.

Ecover Laundry Powder, 48-Ounce Box (Pack of 4) Review

I am surprised at the other review saying how awful this soap is. I have been using all natural products for a long time. I also did a lot of research on which laundry detergent to use. This powder is awesome. It got my whites whiter than any other all natural detergent I have ever used. I would definitely try it. The powder works better than the liquid.
