We have been using Maggie's Soap Nuts for over four months now and am completely satisfied by how clean our clothes have become. I love how our clothes keep getting softer and softer. My wife loves using Maggie's Soap Nuts for all of our baby's re-usable diapers, blankets, sheets and especially pajamas. Personally I was amazed when I would put on my clothes and discover that there was no smell left over from the washing. Before we switched to Maggie's Soap Nuts we would normally use the scented detergents like Seventh Generation or the other equivalent products and those would leave our clothes stinking with perfumes. Even our sheets and blankets smelled so perfumed we could hardly stand to sleep in them. We are very happy with Maggie's Soap Nuts.

Also, I have to say I learned I had a mild skin allergy to the detergents we used to use. My skin allergy really flared up when using detergents like Tide, Seventh Generation, and some others we'd normally buy in stores. ProWash Activewear Detergent 24 fl oz (710 ml) Review

I personally think detergent preferences are like soap/shampoo/perfume/lotion preferences ... everyone's taste is a little different.

Anyway, there is nothing wrong with this detergent ... it does what it says ... cleans and removes odors. I, however, generally use Tide or Cheer, and like that type of fragrance in my detergent. This detergent had a non-descript smell ... more of a wanna-be unscented. I've smelled this "scent" before, but I can't place it right now. (If I think of it, I will edit this review to add to it.) It's not bad, it just has no real smell. It did effectively clean a load of dirty, stinky towels. I would have probably had to run these towels through a second cycle with my usual detergent ... so that was a plus!

As for the container ... I usually buy the HUGE club size detergent, so this was quite a contrast. I have a tendency to be a a little clumsy. In that respect, this container is VERY unforgiving. The little cap that closes the container is TINY ... easy to drop in a small place and very easy to lose. Once the cap it lost, you would have to put the detergent in another container. In addition, when dispensing/pouring out the detergent ... if you pour too much, you are out of luck. You can't just pour it back in the container. It's probaby just an adjustment issue on my part (HUGE container to small container), but worth mentioning.

Given the cost of this detergent and the fact that I'm not a huge fan of the scent, I would probably only use this on really stinky clothing/towels, and as an occasional "booster" with my usual detergent. Again, nothing wrong with this detergent ... just more of a personal preference issue.

Charlie's Soap All-Purpose Cleaner Review

I have tried so many eco-green cleaners and really have only liked Mrs. Meyers, Ecover and (gasp) Clorox Green products. This product claims to clean anything from false teeth to diesel engines and it's probably true! As for its scent and harshness, the scent is a very light, quickly dissipating fragrance which reminds me of Fantastic. As for harshness, I did not wear gloves but probably should have ONLY because some of the greasy stuff went under a couple of fingernails. After normal washing and rinsing of my hands, I did not notice any dryness or irritation. I haven't tried this product on windows, so I can't comment on that, but this spray is EXCELLENT for cleaning an outdoor grill, indoor oven and baked on foodstuff inside my stainless convection microwave oven. On my misnomer self-cleaning oven, I sprayed, waited, wiped and sprayed again until it was like brand new w/ minimal use of elbow grease. AMAZING. I will be giving Simple Green and several other heavy duty cleaners away to neighbors as this IS definitely the ONLY general spray cleaner I will need to use. I also have ordered one gallon of their liquid laundry soap. It is so refreshing to find a product that is environmentally safe, made in USA (NC), and actually cleans as claimed. I hope they expand their product line in the future.

Febreze Sport Laundry Odor Eliminating Boost Detergent Review

Nellie's All Natural Laundry Soda Review

This is such a great, basic product.It cleans without leaving residue or smells, other than just clean.I wash mostly in cold water and dry detergent can be a problem if the water isn't warm enough to dissolve it.I sometimes get a little residue in cold with Nellie's, but I've learned not to exceed the scoop amount and so rarely have a problem. Even in cold it dissolves and cleans well. I love this product.

Prowash Activewear 2X Liquid Detergent, 24-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 3) Review

I will be erecting a shrine in my laundry room to Prowash. It is a detergent washing Jebus! If Oprah was a detergent and came in plastic and was small and kinda colorful, she would be Prowash and her Favorite Things' list would just consist of her!

What makes it such a kick butt product is that it works. It works really well. I have been using Lestoil in my laundry for ages. That too is a great alternative to Prowash, but it leaves the clothes with a truly weird smell, like you just rolled around on a highly polished floor. And that is why I love Prowash. I can finally let the Lestoil go and still get the odor out of my husbands running clothes; I no longer have to threaten them into the washing machine with a shotgun. I also use it when I wash my triplets clothes that they wear to the park. I mix it with Ivory and everything comes bright and beautiful, perfect for them to dirty all over again.

I'm just a regular stressed out woman, who has built a shrine to Prowash that is based in my supreme happiness with this product. Mel Gibson should so do a "Passion of the Prowash." Spread the word to the non-believers!

Penguin Brands Penguin Sport Wash Review

I ride 15 miles really hard into work, and the gear from my morning commute ends up sealed up in a bag all day because I have nowhere to air it out and don't want it stinking up my office. You can imagine the result. My bike gear smells foul, and even a good dose of regular detergent doesn't get rid of the residual stink.

Penguin works significantly better than regular detergent did. But I wish there was something even more powerful.

This stuff would probably work pretty well for most jobs, but for my situation, three stars.

I purchased this Laundry Soap because I was looking for a Really Great Soap that was also environmentally friendly! About the same time we purchased the LG Tromm front loading washer and dryer set! Which by the way, I LOVE!!...I went from using 50 gallons of water per load to about 15-16 gallons of water per load!This soap works very well with the front loaders, but you can use this soap with either a top or front loading machines. I was amazed at how clean my husbands work clothes came out. He was even impressed!And I didn't use any bleach or anything else with it. Also, everything comes out softer than they did when I used my other soaps. It's very low suds, you don't need to use alot, and You can purchase this in powder or liquid form, I use the liquid soap, but I think next time I'll purchase this soap from the actual Charlies Soap Company, because I found that when you order through them, if your order is at least $20.00, shipping is free, plus if you order two or more items you get further discounts, so it is much cheaper purchasing it from Charlies directly. I just googled Charlies Soap and it pulled their website right up. Bottom Line....I highly recommend this soap in either liquid or powder form whether you have a top loader or a front loading machine, but especially if you have a front loading machine, a Highly Powerful Combination! I just wished I'd done this much sooner! Try it, you'll Never go back!
