I moved from Seattle to the greater LA area for school and realized water is harder in So. CA.So when I wash my once-white chef jackets with food stains (i.e. red sauces, chocolate, etc.) with this water softener, it comes out clean, bright, and white.I could tell the difference from washing with and without it so I never wash my chef jackets (and my other whites) without it.

I bought a 1 kilo bag of Green Virgin Soap Nuts at the Oldsmar Flea Market in Tampa. It had 3 wash bags inside. The first load I did was sheets and pillow cases. I was amazed at the results. Everything was so soft and didn't really smell like anything, just clean and fresh. I couldn't be happier with all my laundry. I put 5 soap nuts in a bucket and sprayed water in it from the hose. Summit Brands White Brite Review

My son plays competitive baseball. His white uniform pants get thrashed. We played on a field that has red dirt (like Georgia clay)for three days straight. Needless to say, I figured his pants were going in the trash. With nothing to lose, I soaked his pants in Yellow Out that I found in the garage. Two pants were soaked while the other pair was MIA. When I put them in the laundry, now with the thrid pair that had been found but not soaked, the results were amazing. The two pants that were pretreated with Yellow Out were like new. The pair that was just washed without presoaking were still thrashed. I soaked the untreated pair and rewashed them. They too came out white. I am very impressed with the results. I have never used it on anything else, but I will always use it on my son's baseball pants. It is better than spending $35.00 per pair of pants!

I was so excited at the prospect of this item, which includes a rubber ball that you put a solid ball of detergent into.It promises that the detergent ball will last 25+ loads.Um, no.Try maybe 5 before it is shrunken to the size it tells you is too small.It worked fine for those 5 loads in terms of getting the laundry clean, but that's a little pricy for me.

Surf Sparkling Ocean - 180 loads Review

We bought this big box of detergent, trying to save some money. The product cleans clothes just fine, but my major problem with it was that the detergent consistently did not dissolve properly in the wash. I tried altering how much I put in vs the water level used, but nothing helped. 8 times out of 10 I would pull out my laundry to find detergent residue on my "clean" clothes and would have to run the load again through a rinse cycle losing time and money. What a waste!

PUREX NAT ELMNTS LINEN&LILLIE Review

I happened upon this detergent when looking for a budget-concious---but healthy way way to clean my clothes.

Even without a coupon, it's still VERY affordable, and VERY effective. You don't need to shell out big bucks for something which is 'natural' but effective in it's stated product objective. Those days are long gone!

I shake my head in disbelief, once realizing how much money I had once poured down the 'drain' on other detergent brands.

The prior 'big name' detergent brand I had grown up using was at least twice as expensive, again illustrating that the 'traditional' version of a product is not always the most effective product. While I had clean clothes, I also then had less money to spend on other things which I really needed to survive.

This is a truly great product.I have had a couple of wool sweaters come back from the dry cleaner rough and stiff, albeit clean.It is really true that the cleaning solution removes the natural oils that keep your wool soft.When I needed to clean a cashmere sweater, I purchased The Laundress Cashmere Shampoo.My sweater came out clean, soft and smelling wonderful (if you like the scent of cedar).You do have to have patience to swish your sweater in a tub, rinse and wrap in a towel, then lay flat.You will be rewarded a thousand times over, though.My sweaters actually seemed to be in better condition than when they went into the tub. If you have a sweater you love, or one that is expensive, use this!

I've pretty much always been a Gain user, but in this economy, we're trying to cut back wherever we can. I decided to try this detergent mostly based on the price. At the store I was shopping, the 96 load bottle of this stuff cost $6.50, whereas the same size Gain was $16.00! How could you go wrong?! Really stinky, sweaty clothes do NOT get clean with this product.Lightly used things, do.If you use the balls, be prepared to pretreat stains and anything stinky.If you don't, the sweaty clothes come out of the washing machine..... still yucky. I've been using this stuff for years when I can find it. I think it does a better job than bleach, or maybe it acts with the bleach, for whitening clothes and such. I don't follow the product directions, but squirt a bit in the washer as it starts to fill up then swish it around so water turns an even blue. I also add bleach for the disinfecting power. Maybe it enhances the bleach. I don't know. All I know is I get whiter whites with it.

Remember the old OxiClean TV commercials? You know, the ones where Billy May claimed OxiClean was the miracle worker that was the answer to all your wash-day problems. Then my wife introduced OxiClean into our house. We now add OxiClean to our wash loads, especially the white things. I'm still not totally convinced that it works as well as the old commercials suggest, but she insists on it's use and I follow along.

One thing is certain. I've seen her work miracles with this stuff! She deals with antique dolls and their restoration. I've seen her have doll clothes that I would just have thrown away as worthless trash. Some of them even smelled bad (read reeked) from years of exposure to smoking. Well, she boils them in an OxiClean solution and the end results are, indeed, a miracle. Something I would just have thrown away comes out nice and bright and fresh and, with ironing, looks like new. It's amazing, I must say! OK, I'm convinced. I can't see much of a change in an individual washer load of weekly laundry, but her special care with antique doll clothes would convince anyone that this stuff is truly outstanding. We buy it in these very large 15-pound boxes.

We have been using Maggie's Soap Nuts for over four months now and am completely satisfied by how clean our clothes have become. I love how our clothes keep getting softer and softer. I have used ONLY Cascade dishwashing liquid in my machine. However, I can not say I am happy with the gel. Cascade has always been the best. What has happened? The dishes are not always clean, there is a white film inside the machine and the gel runs out of the soap dispenser before I can get the door closed. The quality of the product has difinitely gone downhill. I am and probably will continue to use Cascade. I just want the old product back. Kirkland Signature 2x Ultra Laundry Detergant 170 Oz., 110 Loads Review

We've tended to use Tide as our laundry detergent. Consumer Reports says it's one of the best and we agree. It's been an excellent detergent, without question. However, we belong to one of those warehouse store organizations and their competing product is Kirkland Signature Ultra Laundry Detergent. It's much cheaper than Tide, and that provides an incentive to try it. In addition, one month they gave us an extra two-dollars-off coupon and that proved to be just too much to resist. We tried it, we liked it, we've been using it ever since.

Detergents would be very hard for an individual to judge. There are no adequate controls on any home testing experiment. It would probably be best to look at Consumer Reports judgments and then see if it fits your own needs and observations. That's difficult too. I guess the bottom line is, are you satisfied with using this product? In the case of Kirkland Signature Detergent, the answer is yes. Completely. Would you ever go back to Tide? Sure, but it costs a lot more and I have no reason to believe it will perform any better. So, what does one do? Me? I buy the Kirkland Signature Detergent. Why would I join a warehouse store if I didn't take advantage of their products and prices?
